1. Eligibility
The Art for a Cure contest is open to all US citizens diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) and their family members.
There is no entry fee.
Entries for someone under the age of 18 must be posted with permission from their parent or legal guardian.
Employees of the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, TSC researchers and clinicians, board members and their family members and those living in their immediate households, whether or not related, and any contest sponsor, are eligible to enter the contest or win a prize as long as they, or someone in their family, has been diagnosed with TSC. The entry must be created solely by the entering artist.
2. Entry Requirements
Registration: All entrants must complete the online registration process, as outlined in Section 3.
Entries: One entry per person.
Deadline: Artists must register by Friday, May 18, 2018, to be eligible to win.
Artwork: By entering in the Art for a Cure contest, all semi-finalist artists agree to donate their masterpieces to the TS Alliance for the purpose of raising funds and awareness. The top 3 pieces that receive the most votes in each category will be chosen for donation. All others remain the property of the artist. If you have a masterpiece selected for the semi-finals, you will be provided with instructions on how to address and ship your piece to be prepared for display and silent auction at the 2018 World TSC Conference on Saturday, July 28.
3. How to Enter
Visit https://bit.ly/2HFbEuO on or after May 1, 2018. Upload an image (jpeg, tiff) of your creation. Make sure you enter your legal name and age. Contestants may also share their personal stories or inspiration if they wish.
4. Winner selection
This contest is divided into the following two groups and five categories:
The first-round voting portion of the contest runs from May 1 – June 8, 2018. The objective is to get as many people as possible to cast their online ballots for your entry with each vote costing $5.
The top 3 vote-getters in each category will then move on to the semi-finals and be displayed at the 2018 World TSC Conference in Dallas, Texas. Winners will be notified on June 11, 2018. Semi-final voting takes place from June 11 through July 25. All semi-finalists will be automatically entered into a silent auction that will take place at the conference’s Blue Night Dinner on Saturday, July 28.
The top single vote-getter in each category will move on to the finals. A Grand Prize winner will be determined for each of the two groups by a distinguished panel of judges and will be announced LIVE, along with all semi-finalists, at the Blue Night Dinner on Saturday, July 28.
The following prizes will be awarded:
All Art for a Cure entries will receive a $25 Visa gift card.
All semi-finalists will have their work displayed at the 2018 World TSC Conference for a silent auction and receive at least a $100 Visa gift card.
The first-place winner in each category will be announced LIVE at the Blue Night Dinner and receive a $250 Visa card, while the two Grand Prize winners will be presented with a $500 Visa gift card.
5. 2018 Art for a Cure Contest Rules and Guidelines
The Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance is holding the 2018 Art for a Cure contest to increase public awareness and funds for tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) and the need for research and support programs. All entrants in the 2018 Art for a Cure contest agree to comply unconditionally with all the provisions set out in these Rules and Guidelines. Any entrant who does not agree, fully or partially, with any provisions of the Rules and Guidelines, is considered ineligible for participation. The TS Alliance has the right, but not the obligation, to monitor the 2018 Art for a Cure contest and determine compliance with these Rules and Guidelines, and the right at its sole discretion to refuse and remove any video or photograph, in whole or in part, that, without limiting the foregoing, it finds to be in violation of these Rules and Guidelines or otherwise unlawful or objectionable.
6. Contest Entrants’ Conduct
All entrants of the 2018 Art for a Cure contest shall not submit any photos or videos that in whole or in part violate or infringe in any way upon the rights of others; is unlawful, threatening, abusive, defamatory; invasive of privacy or publicity rights; is vulgar, obscene, profane, contains morbid images or otherwise objectionable material; encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense; gives rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any law, including, but not limited to, HIPAA; or contains any advertising or any solicitation with respect to products or services. All entrants shall not modify, exploit, create derivative works, or otherwise interfere with the material submitted by other entrants.
In the event of permitted copying, distribution or publication of such material, no changes in or deletion of author attribution, trademark legend or copyright notice shall be made.
7. Third Party Rights and Clearance and Proprietary Rights
Entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, and rights of privacy, publicity or any other proprietary rights of a person or entity.
8. Burden of Determination
The burden of determining that any material is not protected by copyright, trademark, rights of privacy, publicity or any other proprietary rights rests with the entrant. The entrant shall bear the sole liability for any damage resulting from any infringement of copyrights, proprietary rights, or any other harm resulting from such a submission.
9. Minors
If any person entering the contest is under the age of majority in their State of residence, the original signature of a parent or legal guardian is required with each release. It is the sole responsibility of an entrant to obtain such releases before submitting his or her work.
10. Termination, Cancellation, Suspension, Disqualification
Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to consider ineligible any entry and disqualify the entrants, or to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the 2018 Art for a Cure contest in whole or in part and without prior notice at any time, if it suspects, or actually finds that:
12. User Rights
Entrant grants to Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive right and license to use, sell, display, reproduce, edit, publish, translate and distribute the submitted artwork (in whole or in part) worldwide or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media or technology now known or hereafter developed for the full term of any copyright and renewal that may exist in such material, with the objective to promote the goals of the 2018 Art for a Cure contest or the mission of Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance and its subsidiaries. Entrant grants to Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance the right to use the entrant’s name, likeness, photographs, voice, sounds or biographical information and videos in connection with the 2018 Art for a Cure contest and for any and all advertising, publicity and promotional purposes relating to the 2018 Art for a Cure contest and the 2018 Art for a Cure event or promoting the mission of Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance. The entrant will be clearly acknowledged for any use of his or her material and his or her name will accompany any dissemination of the material he or she owns by Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance. Beyond permission granted herein and acknowledgment, Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance is not obliged to compensate the entrant for use of the submitted material, unless prohibited by law.
13. Disclaimer of Liability
The entrant, by registering with the 2018 Art for a Cure contest, agrees that the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance and its subsidiaries, its agents, representatives, employees, and contractors, are released and discharged from and against all and any costs, claims, damages, liabilities and expenses of any sort arising out of, or generally relating to: submission of the material for the 2018 Art for a Cure contest and participation in it, the use of the material by the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, the decisions made or actions taken by the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance in connection to the conduct and administration of the 2018 Art for a Cure contest, and the acceptance and use on his or her part of any prize.
The Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance and its subsidiaries, its agents, representatives, employees, and contractors are not responsible for technical failures of any kind; any problems or delays arising from any technical, software, or equipment malfunctions; computer viruses; congestion; unavailability of the 2018 Art for a Cure contest website; any other technical, equipment, or human errors of any kind with regard to the administration of the 2018 Art for a Cure contest; or any damage or alteration to the entrant’s photographs or video that may occur in connection with the uploading or display of the entry. Further, the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance is not liable for any failure to screen the entered videos or view the photographs on the Internet or at any venue. The entrant specifically acknowledges that the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance is not liable for the defamatory, offensive, or illegal conduct of other entrants or of comments made on YouTube or anywhere a video is posted and that the risk of injury from the foregoing rests entirely with the entrant. The entrant waives any right to seek injunctive action or other equitable relief relating to any claim against the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance and its subsidiaries, agents, representatives, employees, and contractors.
14. Changes to the Rules and Guidelines
Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance has the right at any time and without prior notice to modify, suspend or terminate the 2018 Art for a Cure contest or the Rules and Guidelines, or any part thereof; or impose new rules or guidelines, if it considers appropriate. Such changes, modifications, additions or deletions shall be effective immediately upon notice thereof, which may be given by any means including, but not limited to, posting on the 2018 Art for a Cure’s web site, sending electronic or conventional mail to the entrants, or by any other means by which the entrants obtain notice thereof.
